Chimes is a monthly spoken word event, held at the Back Bar at The Bell in Bath.
It is an example of collaboration between local creatives through the Bell and Bath Spa University Emerge Residency Programme. It is a friendly community for new and emerging artists with supportive open mic slots and a wide variety of headliners. 2024 brought performances from Vanessa Kisuule, Lucy English and many more.
Robert Garnham will be headlining at Chimes on 18/3/25. He combines wordplay and silliness with social sensibility in poems that have been honed and crafted over the years, accompanied by jokes and japes and all manner of high jinx. As a performer, he is utterly unique, bringing his own brand of LGBT whimsy and humour to audiences anew. Acclaimed as having one of the funniest one liners of the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe, Robert has recently been seen in adverts for a certain building society on ITV. Robert has supported John Hegley, Arthur Smith and Paul Sinha, among others.
